Pole Dancing Planter - PRE-ORDER (Available 7/19)
Pre-order will open Saturday July 19 at 10:00 AM PST. There will only be 10) 6” planters and 8) 8” planters available to order for the US only. Until then this page will say sold Out, but quantities will be populated on Saturday morning.
We all love give our plants something to climb on. It encourages larger leaf growth, and happier climbers, but what’s the most frustrating thing about those moss poles? For me, it’s getting them to stand up straight and not lean under the weight of the plant as it climbs up. I figured I couldn’t be alone here, so in 2022 I started working on planters with a built in pole holder, that are playfully named Pole Dancing Planters.
Some fun facts about Pole Dancing Planters and how they work:
The pot and pole holder are thrown on the potter’s wheel as one piece. This makes the pole holder stronger!
All pole holders are in the center of the pot, and you can plant in the open area around them. This design is meant to keep them from being too heavy in the back.
Planters are thrown with a thick base to add extra weight for stability.
There are four drainage holes in these pots: one in the center so no water sits in the pole holder, and three holes in the base for regular drainage.
Each pot comes with a matching separate saucer
Pole holder diameter is about 1”. You can add a velcro strip around your moss pole for a snugger fit. Or just toss some soil in there for extra support.
This is a Pre-Order, meaning these pots are made to order. Usually I throw the pots, but in order to offer them in the US while I’m in Portugal, I worked with Wil LaBelle when I was in Portland last March, so he could throw my designs for me… for you! My fabulous studio assistant Anna will glaze them in the color of your choosing (use drop down menu below), and ship them once they’re fired.
Please note your planter will look different than the images shown here. Glazes can vary especially the two color glazes that are layered. They’ll all look fabulous, but differences in appearance is what makes hand made pottery unique and special.
Please allow 4-6 weeks for shipping. You will receive a tracking number via email once your order has shipped. Be sure to add nmcurcio @ gmail and info @ nicolemcurcio to your address book to keep emails out of spam.
